  John Arthur Bentley is last recorded with his wife, Amelia Minnie, in the 1911 England census in which his occupation is recorded as fishmonger (Croft Villas, 4 Croft Road, Poole, Dorset: Class: RG14, Piece: 12270, Schedule: 162). He appears to be recorded at Sea View Road and later Hill Crest Road, Poole, Dorset from 1911 to 1914 (Dorset Electoral Rolls accessed on www.findmypast.co.uk). A John A Bentley married Minnie Tilley in late 1914 (GRO Marriage Index: Q4 1914, Registration District: Preston, Lancashire, Volume: 8E, Page: 1011). They are recorded in the 1921 England census at 24, Hornby Road, Blackpool, Lancashire (Class: RG15, Piece: 20787, Schedule: 57). John Arthur Bentley’s age, place of birth and occupation are consistent with those of John Arthur Bently recorded in the 1911 England census above. Also recorded are Minnie Bentley, aged 45 years and Dorothy May Bentley, aged 6. All three are recorded as boarders or visitors (“visitor” appears to have been updated to “boarder” by the enumerator) and so it can only be assumed that Minnie was his wife and Dorothy his daughter. However, the birth certificate for Dorothy May Bentley, confirms that she was the daughter of John Arthur Bentley and Minnie Bentley, late Tilley, formerly Williamson (Reference: Dorothy M Bentley, Registered: Q2 1915, Registration District: Preston, Lancashire, Volume: 8E, Page: 961). John Arthur and Minnie Bentley can be traced in the Lancashire Electoral Rolls living in Preston, Lancashire between 1918 and 1929 however in the 1930 Electoral Roll Minnie is recorded alone and in the 1939 Register she is recorded as a widow. No death or burial record has been identified for John Arthur Bentley; it has been assumed he died in about 1930.
