Sarah Ann’s maiden name is recorded variously as Sheppeck, Sheppick or Shapwick. Her father’s name is recorded as John Sheppick on her parish marriage entry however evidence from other vital and census records suggests her father was called George.

In the 1911 England census, Sarah Ann Furmadge is recorded at 34, Bertie Road, Asylum Road, Milton, Portsmouth, Hampshire (Class: RG14, Piece: 5530, Schedule: 57), whilst her husband, Joseph Furmadge, is recorded as a boarder in the Smith household at 6, Dreadnought, Bridport, Dorset (Class: RG14, Piece: 12485, Schedule: 158). Her death certificate records that she was living at Elmore, Gosport Road, Fareham, Hampshire in 1913, the wife of Joseph Furmadge a General Labourer. The informant is her daughter, Mary Furmadge, recorded at the same address.
