  The California Death Index records Francis’ date of birth as 28 September 1902 and the year 1902 also appears as his birth year on his gravestone (American Fork Cemetery, America Fork, Utah, USA, accessed on www.findagrave.com). A number of sources, however, record a different birth date: The U.S. Social Security Death Index records it as 18 September 1901 (transcript accessed on www.ancestry.co.uk) and the World War II Draft Cards Young Men (1940-1947), records it as 22 September 1906; Agnes Firmage is also recorded on this source as Francis’ wife (Records for the State of California, RG: 147, Box: 1098; digital image accessed on www.ancestry.co.uk; original data: National Archives at St Louis, Missouri). This later year of 1906 is also supported by the entries for Francis in the 1940 and 1950 U.S. Federal census, which also record Agnes as his wife (1940: So Berendo Avenue, Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California: T627-00401, Page: 12A; 1950: Apartment 9, 2300 10th Avenue, Sacramento, Sacramento, California.
