  The birth transcript records her name as Elizabeth Jane Furmedge. Based on a culmination of other sources I believe her name is more likely to be Mary Jane Furmedge: In the newspaper report of her marriage she is referred to as “Miss May Furmedge, second daughter of the late Mr John Furmedge, of Ballarat”. She is referred to as “Mary Jane Light (wife of Arthur Kimber Light)” in her mother’s last will and testament. The transcribed death record for Mary Jane Light states her age as 63 years which would mean that she was born about 1860 (rather than 1857); her father’s name in the record is given as John Furmedge, there is no mother’s name recorded.
