- Mabel was the younger daughter of the late James Bray and Mrs Medhurst of Shoreham, Kent. She was a widow at the time of her marriage to Cyril James Furmidge, having previously married H. S. Gillett (“Lewes Wedding”, Sussex Express 26th January 1940).
Mabel’s entry in the GRO Death Index records her date of birth as 07 March 1906 whereas it is recorded as 07 March 1905 in the 1939 Register. Based on a review of the GRO Birth Index it seems likely that 07 March 1905 is the correct date.
