• Notes

  Although John Edward married in 1937, he is recorded as single in his World War Two service record enrolment form, dated 1942, giving his mother’s name and address as his next of kin. The Newcastle Journal (published 07 November 1942, Page: 3) records that he was awarded a decree nisi on grounds of his wife’s adultery with Albert Stoker (whom she married in 1949).
