  • Notes 
    • James Henry Furmidge served with the 12th (Service) Battalion, The East Surrey Regiment, having enlisted in June 1915. His biography in De Ruvigny’s Roll of Honour notes that he was educated at St Helen’s National School, Isle of Wight and was a Draper’s Assistant prior to enlisting. He served with the Expeditionary Force in France and Flanders from January 1917, taking part in several engagements. He died at No. 140 Casualty Clearing Station following wounds received in action at Mont Kemmel on 9th August 1918.
