Mary Elizabeth Furmidge travelled to Australia in 1915 and then settled in Brisbane, Queensland (Board of Trade: Commercial & Statistical Department and Successors: Outward Passenger Lists: BT27, The National Archives; 1922 Electoral Roll transcript for Mannion Street, Red Hill, Ithaca, Brisbane, Queensland accessed on www.findmypast.co.uk).
She appears to have formed a relationship with Leonard Howard Maddick after his separation from his wife in about 1925. His divorce was not granted until 1938 and he died in 1939. There is no evidence of a marriage between Mary Elizabeth and Leonard Howard however in later records (e.g., electoral rolls, death index and grave) she is recorded as Mary Elizabeth Maddick (or Maddicks).
