| Notes |
- Lyne’s name is recorded as Line Fermidge in the GRO Birth Index. There are two newspaper reports indicating that he possibly fathered an illegitimate child in about 1856, the mother being Elizabeth Walker. In the first article he was ordered to make payments to Elizabeth Walker and in the second he was imprisoned for one calendar month for disobeying a bastardy order (Grantham Journal published 23 August 1856; Leicestershire Mercury published 16 January 1858). He was living at Newbold at the time of his marriage to Mary Goodwin in January 1860. He died in June 1861 whilst working at Staveley for the Midland Railway attending to the point where coal trucks were shunted to another line. He was caught between the buffers and died of his injuries. He left a widow, Mary, and one child.
