  • Notes 
    • The last will and testament of Samuel Furmidge of Harby, Leicestershire, Corn Seed Cake and Coal Merchant, was written on 18th January 1874 and witnessed by John Gibson, Clerk to Mr Furmidge, Harby and O. T. Turner, Solicitor, Nottingham. He named his friends George Kemp of Harby, Farmer, William Waite of Wyfordby, Farmer and his son William Hardy Furmidge of Nottingham, Corn Salesman as his executors. His bequests were (1) His household effects to his wife, Sarah Furmidge; (2) Any money arising from his life assurance policies or any net business profits to be invested and the income paid to his wife until her decease when it would be held in trust for his nine children named as: William Hardy Furmidge; Samuel Hardy Furmidge, John Thomas Furmidge, Elizabeth Ann Furmidge, Vincent Furmidge, Linney Furmidge, Russell Furmidge, Harry Furmidge and Louisa Hannah Furmidge, until they came of age; (3) If desirable, any of his executors or those named as beneficiaries in his will could continue his business of Corn Seed Cake and Coal Merchant however if the business was discontinued the interest on any monies (after payment of his funeral and testamentary expenses and any debts) were to be paid (a) to his wife and after her decease (b) to his children in trust until they came of age; (4) That his son, William Hardy Furmidge, might act as Manager of his business and receive a salary not exceeding £200 per annum or if his real estate and business was to be sold his sons, in priority order, would first have it offered to each of them to purchase. The will was proved 20th December 1875.
