• Notes

  The baptism register for St Peter, Redmile, Leicestershire shows a Sarah Furmidge daughter of Alice Furmidge, a single woman, baptised on 6th November 1831. Alice Furmidge born about 1814 to Robert and Dorothy Furmidge appears to be the most likely mother of this child based on the potential mother’s date of birth, marriage or death date and location. Alice would have been around 17 years old in 1831 and did not marry until 1838. It has been assumed that Sarah died in infancy since she does not appear with her mother in the 1841 England census (Redmile, Leicestershire: Class: HO107, Piece: 588, Folio: 7, Page: 8). There are two possible burial dates in Redmile for a Sarah Furmidge, infant. The earliest of these (4th December 1831) has been assigned to Sarah Furmidge daughter of Alice Furmidge baptised 6th November 1831. The later burial occurred 23rd April 1832.
