  A birth or baptism record has not been identified for Iris Minnie Hampson to date. She is named in her father’s 1937 death notice as “Iris Minnie Furmage (born Hampson)” together with seven other siblings. It is possible to trace a number of records (e.g., marriage or death) for her siblings indicating that Iris was most probably born in Umtata, Eastern Cape, South Africa to William Hampson and Emily Jane Hampson (born Ingram). Iris’ approximate year of birth is based on her age at marriage and is consistent with her siblings birth years .
