• Notes

  Albert served as a Gunner in the Royal Navy from January 1918 to September 1924 when he was invalided out. He served on H.M. Ships “Queen Elizabeth”, “Edgar” and “King George V” in the North Sea and Scapa Flow (National Roll of the Great War, Section: IV - Southampton, Page 143). He then joined the Merchant Navy as an Able Seaman, serving until around 1936 (Register of Shipping and Seamen: Register of Seamen, Central Index, CR1 (BT349) & CR2 (BT348), The National Archives).
