  • Notes 
    • Two marriages have been identified for Charity (Russell) Furmage and Joseph Deadman. In both marriage records Joseph Deadman’s father is recorded as Henry Deadman (a publican in 1859 and a bailiff in 1870). Charity’s father is recorded as James Furmage, dairyman, in 1859 but as John Hopkins, gardener in 1870. Charity is recorded as a spinster in both records suggesting that her father’s name in 1870 has been mis-recorded. This is supported by the previous entry in the 1870 marriage register for the wedding, which took place on the same day, between Jesse Deadman, son of Henry Deadman, bailiff, and Annabel Alice Hopkins, daughter of John Hopkins, gardener. Each couple witnessed the other couples’ wedding.

      It is unclear why Charity and Joseph re-married in 1870 (no evidence has been found to suggest that the 1859 and 1870 marriages were of different couples).
