| Notes |
- George Wordie Furmage, aged 21 years, travelled from London, England to Melbourne, Australia on board the “ Themistocles” on the 19 June 1913. Also on board (and listed just above George in the passenger list) were the Ewart family consisting of David Thomson Ewart, his wife Jane Ann and their 22 year old daughter Hilda Janet. George married Hilda Janet in 1916 however she died in 1918 on Ocean Island.
George re-married in 1922 on Ocean Island. His occupation in various records is Clerk / Bookkeeper and it appears he may have been employed on Ocean Island in the phosphate mining industry (Special photographs taken by Thomas J McMahon, Senior Staff and Office Staff, Ocean Island, 1916-17; National Archives of Australia, Series: R32, Volume 117/29, Item ID 6448942).
George was one of two executors named in the last will and testament of David T Ewart, his first wife’s father, who died in 1948. George was bequeathed land in Synnott Street, Werribee, Victoria, with a dwelling house and its contents at 35, Synnott Street (VPRS 7591/P0002, 402/401; digital image on www.prov.vic.gov.au).
