- Lucy Wilmer Thompson was the second daughter of Lieutenant Harris Peckover Thompson, 15th M.N.I. (Madras Native Infantry). She was the niece and adopted daughter of Mr & Mrs Hosford, of Bedford Place, Russell Square, London. (Source: Marriage Announcement in The Salisbury and Winchester Journal, and General Advertiser, Saturday, October 19, 1872).
Her last will and testament was made 3rd February 1910 with a Codicil added 26th October 1928. Her son, John Harris Furmedge was assigned Executor. Her details are given as Lucy Wilmer Furmedge wife of John Roberts Furmedge of Fernside, Wokingham, Berkshire, Esquire. Her bequests were: (1) All jewellery, wearing apparel, furniture and silver “particularly the Hosford silver which was given to me by my late uncle William Hosford and is distinguished by the Hosford crest”, etc. to her three daughters (Ann Helen Furmedge, Lilian Hosford Furmedge & Lucy Roberts Furmedge); (2) Remaining property to be disposed of and divided amongst her daughters. The will was witnessed by Walter T Grigson, 31 Bolton Gardens, London SW, Articled Clerk to Chartered Accountant. The Codicil amends her address to 44 Bouverie Square, Folkestone, Kent and lays out provisions in the event of the death of one of her daughters during her lifetime. The Codicil was witnessed by Alice G Courtney, Binfield, Berkshire and Lionel G Courtney Lt Binfield, Berkshire Temp LT ASC. Lucy Wilmer Furmedge died 16th February 1928, her address recorded as 126, Sandgate Road, Folkestone, Kent, and the will proved 24th March 1928. (Source: Will obtained from www.gov.uk).
